In exchange for funding, Boren awardees commit to working in the federal government for at least one year after graduation. Boren 奖学金s for undergraduates provide up to $10,000/semester for study abroad and up to $20,000 for a full academic year abroad. Boren 奖学金 for graduate students provide up to $24,000 for overseas study ranging from 12 weeks to one year. Awards are granted with preference for long-term study abroad, and less-common countries, 语言, and fields of study critical to U.S. 利益.
